Everything have started just simple - we just wanted to be active and try something new. Our first projects were organized since 2004. The first cooperations and participations were with thePolish group, firstly in anorth-east Slovak town Stropkov and then in Polish town Mieec. Projects were oriented to sport, communication and media. The Youth program was kind a new for all of us, but helpful for its participants, mostly the high-school students that developed cross-border cooperation.

Members of our group have participated also at some project that were organized by other organizations. The example can be the Youth exchange in Snina named We are different, not worse" that was organized for kids of childhouses and minorities from east of Slovakia and Belgium. Kids, that have never met other cultures or never seen darker skin of people were fascinated through this project. It gave them an opportunity to try something unforgettable and had a big influence on their future lives and opinions. The cooperation with organisation PAC - EVERE from Brussels continued in Bratislava. And the same organisation invited us also to Brussels. At the seminar Welcome neighbours"young leaders from Montenegro, Bosnia, Serbia, Finland, Chile, Italy and Croatia met and changed experiences about a youth work. And this cooperation runs until today - this year we will meet our friends from Belgium at common project in Turkey.

In May of 2005 we took part in a multilateral youth exchange in Polish Zakopane. We and youngs from Poland, Romania, Turkey and Italy were preparing videos about different cultures. This project influenced international cooperation and help to find friends for new people again.

In May 2006 we welcomed young people from Turkish city Edirne in Snina. A project named Knowing me, knowing you" was about recognition new cultures in Europe and it was very successful among its participants. About twenty young from, that time, very mystique part of the Europe became our friends soon - we learnt a lot about them, their habits and surprisingly very similar way of life as we have.

In the end of june 2008, our group continued in bilateral exchange with our friends from Turkey. The project "Friendship is growing", based on knowing Europe and braking stereotypes, gave an opportunity for almost 20 youngs from Slovakia to experience something unforgetable. Our last multilateral exchange in Italy had a topic conected to film and cinema. Our group presented Slovak documentary film "Other worlds" and cooperated on producing a final short movie about diversity in Europe. In Torino we met groups from Romania and Poland and lived in a camp with Somali refugee - this just can not try home.

Interesting training course was organized in October 2008 in Belgic city Deinze. TC named "Cut the Ice" offered a learning opportunity for youth workers and youth leaders to improve knowledge and skills related to intercultural learning and citizenship within the European context.

As you can see, those are just few ways how you could participate at the Youth in Action program. All it needs is an effort, initiative and a desire to try something new. If you are able to create interesting projects, do not worry about financial part - the European Union may pay most of the expenditures. Soon we will write about the ways how to create your own project. Since then try http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/youth/index_en.php or www.mladezvakcii.sk. Be a part of it!
